Dig it.
Question:
what kind of music don't you like? octavio salman. - (octavio salman velasquez - 3/12/2005)

Answer:
Dishonest music, music aesthetically apathetic, and music used by those to purposefully send ignominious, corrupt and/or debasing messages to people (NOT in the form of constructive commentary) that view the messenger as a potential role model.

Question:
What's your stand on drummers who stick to one kind of genre, say rhythm and blues or jazz, even outrightly discriminating pop music? - (Lester Legisma - 3/10/2005)

Answer:
I no longer think that greatness is genre specific; but I think that discriminating against certain types of music is dodgy, arguable territory. I don't have a short answer for that, but I don't think that snobbery per se is beneficial for one's appreciation of any good that could be percieved in any genre.

Some of the stuff he says in music he doesn't like translated into gangster rap IMO.

The day I met Vince, I was blown away at how well informed he was about this corrupt U.S. adminstration. And he's not a nutjob as somebody here on HOD thinks. Granted, his verbal repertware is just short of a literature professor. But when you hit a topic that interests him, he'll exchange with you till the cows come home. The emails I've traded back and forth with the man shows an incredible depth, understanding, and intellectuality that I find in few people, let alone musicians. He is very very "aware" & well read in regards to "what's goin on" on on many levels and concepts. But on another note..... I am sooooo glad that this "is" the way he is!! Weather it was because of his faith or other mitigating factors... I am very glad of the person that Vince has become.

I think he'll go down as another Buddy. A raw and true musical natural.

Man how cool is that!! I love the fact that Vinnie is open about his faith in Christ and so willing to answer questions in an informative and intelligent manner. It is obvious that the Lord is really working in his heart. PT.

Might as well throw in many forms of heavy-rock too while we're at it ...even though I was & am a fan of some of it]

The gangsta thug thing is a blight to the afro-american people [which was responsible for largely if not completely giving us such GREAT styles of music such as blues, jazz, RnB, funk, soul, motown] - AWA to society in general.

I DO understand the whole concept of it's originations in the feelings of societal suppression, perhaps depression, marginalization, disenfranchisement, & angst...but it's gone way too far off course. And THEN Mr Grubby-Hands-Businessman stepped in. F'n A. I'd rather go back to the break-dancing...which in reality, & although I'n not necessarily the Denny Terrio type, when it was good, it was really a unique & burning dance style which some worked really hard to excel at. I rem seeing some moves that I knew were serious & weren't worked up overnight. JMHFO

Now, I also realize that there are some forms of rap n rhythm out there [notice: not "gangsta/thug/pimp/dealer"] that honest folks may be trying to gain some credibilty by...but they have a real bear's shadow to have to step out of.

Just really trying to "Keep it real," folks.

WORD.
